The Arizona Diamondbacks recently promoted Aaron Heilman to the role of closer. In every game since, he has allowed atleast one run in every game. He as all but cleared the way for Sam Demel's walk to the mound.
Talented Rookie Sam Demel should be on your radar because it may not be long until he gets his promotion to the closers role. He could be the Diamondbacks closer of the future, and if Heilman can't replace Chad Quails, he'll become the Diamondbacks current closer.
He has yet to give up either a walk or hit in 3.2 innings for the D-Backs, and he's struck out four. Small sample, sure, but Demel's minor league numbers were excellent: 1.26 ERA, 28.2 IP, 28 Ks, 6 SV

And Demel was perfect to start his career:
From The Sports Xchange notes: RHPSam Demel retired all four batters he faced Wednesday, and he has retired all 10 men he has faced in his first three major league appearances after being acquired from Oakland for LF Conor Jackson. Demel has recorded 11 outs in those 10 batters -- he got a double play from SS Derek Jeter to end the sixth inning Wednesday, erasing an inherited runner. "I'm just out here trying to put up outs," Demel said.

In terms of his fantasy value, the main thing to talk about with Demel in the short term is opportunity, as the D-backs are looking for someone, anyone, to step up in the later innings. Aaron Heilman is getting a chance to run with the ball for the moment in the ninth, almost by default. But Heilman has had far more success against left-handed hitters this year thanks to his changeup; his ability to get tough righties out in the ninth is still in question. The expectation is that Demel could quickly find his way to some high-pressure situations if he adapts well to the major leagues.
